Mixed Media on Canvas.

"Festival of Colours No.3 is a bright, bold, mixed-media abstract painting on canvas. Inspired by spending time with my 5-year-old granddaughter Feelings of happiness, fresh new paints, birthday cake, blowing bubbles and a sunny day. I've used many layers of acrylic paint, gesso, housepaint, China marker, wax pastels, and pencil. The sides of the canvas are painted white.
I used to fear coming into my studio to face a brand-new canvas. The expanse of brilliant white gesso on linen taunted me. I would hear my four-year-old self ask "What should I paint?" Not anymore. As I reframed this experience, each new brilliant white canvas is an adventure. A new beginning. At this stage, anything is possible. The possibilities are limitless. I can paint anything my heart desires."
Canadian artist Rita Vindedzis has been painting professionally for two decades. Her mixed media abstract paintings are optimistic. They are a journey into Vindedzis' imagination. Each painting consists of layer upon layer of acrylic paint, sometimes with the addition of other media such as graphite, wax crayon, china marker, house paint, and collage papers. These works are intuitive in nature: as Vindedzis work, she combines spontaneity with an intention to create a pleasing harmonious balance.
