Glowing Hearts, 40" x 40"
Oil on Canvas, 40" x 40" x 1.5".
"Glowing Hearts " is inspired by a trip up to the north shore Lake Superior area and the artist was struck by the vastness of the land up there and the huge cliffs and rocks of the Canadian Shield.
"My artistic journey has undergone a profound transformation in the wake of the pandemic. In my work, I explore the delicate dance between resilience and hope when faced with adversity, inspired by the idea of renewal. The contradictory nature of the human spirit—both driven to endure and burdened by ongoing challenges—is a central theme. Through my art, I aim to uncover the potential for growth and rejuvenation, even in the midst of our stark reality.
Some of my pieces depict scenes of starkness, like barren leaves and winter landscapes, symbolizing the yearning for renewal. Many of my creations draw from my personal experiences in Northern Ontario's natural settings, places where I find my own renewal and restoration. In "Glowing Hearts," a tribute to our national anthem, I invoke the enduring strength of the Canadian shield—a symbol of our resilience that guides us through challenging times. This collection reflects my journey through renewal, hope, and the power of the human spirit."
Natasha Lehman is a Canadian contemporary oil landscape painter. Her style is fluid, expressive and gestural. Lehman paints in oil in a manner more similar to watercolour, without the thick build-up of oil paint. This matte finish creates a soft, serene, and ethereal state to the work. Being in nature is her inspiration and her work has spanned coast to coast in Canada, and viewers will recognize images of Northern Ontario, Lake Superior, Banff, forests of British Columbia, and the coastlines of out East. Lehman is an intuitive painter and she lets the image speak to her as she paints and lets it unfold naturally.
