Acrylic on Wood Panel (Framed).
This piece is from the Fragile Collection of 2021.
‘If this were an art exhibit set to music, ‘Fragile’ by Sting, my personal favorite, would be playing in the background. The song is brief and powerful, much like this new body of work. Sting offers a repetitive reminder of human fragility in his deceptively simple lyrics. Moved by a senseless political murder in Nicaragua, he wrote the song as an ode to non-violence. In the same way, this limited collection explores and documents the stark fragility of humankind. I created it with a slow, mindful determination. Each piece is reflective, poignant, and perfectly composed. And lest we forget, each piece is a powerful reminder of how fragile we are.‘
Aadila Munshi is a contemporary artist living and working in Toronto, Canada. She is known for her sophisticated painted renderings of distressed urban surfaces and abstracted graffiti forms.
