Fieldlings N1, 6" x 6"
Oil and Cold Wax on Wood Panel.
"This series, "The Fieldlings", relates to the theme of the show, "Celebrating Radiance", in several ways. In a tangibly visible and literal way, each fielding has a light emitting from the sky to the horizon. The light illuminates the uneven terrain often to the appearance of a smooth radiant velvety green. On a deeper level, the fieldlings represent finding the way to a radiance that dwells from within each one of us. Although it may at times seem hidden under layers, the search can reveal it, and that is definitely cause for celebration."
Kelly Harper Morehouse is a Newfoundlander by birth, and has lived in various places across Canada and the US. Kelly now lives with her family and many beloved critters on a farm in the rolling hills of rural Nova Scotia. It is here that she draws her inspiration, from the land, the people and the nature surrounding her. Her artistic practice leans towards realism while also exploring abstraction.
Kelly attended NSCAD University in 2001 and returned in 2021 to complete her BFA. She has been active in the arts community for many years. In 2011, she was a founding member of the previous, Winding River Art Gallery, an artist-run cooperative in Stewiacke NS. When not at work in her garret, you might find her in the barn or the field, down by the stream or at the beach, often exploring with sketchbook and camera in hand.
