"Through the Meadow," 36" x 48"
Mixed Media on Wood Panel.
Take a walk with me through the meadows of Ireland, feel the warmth of the sun and the breeze off the ocean as we travel north. See the clouds gather and form and move along as we drive past villages along the cliffs.
A few years ago, I had the opportunity to go visit Dublin, Ireland and stay with my bestie for a couple of months. It was truly a wonderful experience to immerse myself in the culture and take day trips to as many Villages as I could possibly manage. I can still remember flying beside the cliffs at dawn as we approached for landing and seeing all the fields of greenery and golden ochre. What a site!
One of the highlights of my stay was driving on winding roads through small towns to Northern Ireland, absorbing the picturesque landscapes, and stunning views as I drove higher, each one more spectacular than the other. This is where some of my paintings live, fragments of the dialogue and memories in my head, coming together to form the story in the painting.”
Karen Jeffrey is an abstract artist working in acrylic, and cold wax, and oil. She’s an OCAD graduate and an accomplished Pastry Chef. Actually, her two favorite tools for painting are her pastry palette knife and her plastic bowl scraper. Karen’s body of work is largely reflective of her many travels and she draws her inspirations from her surroundings and the dialogue in her head. Each painting is a collection of fragments from my memories of travels, they come together to form a larger story, giving the piece a lively visual environment, where the forms, lines, and marks coexist.
