“Within this tapestry of creative exploration, I have discovered a profound connection to my inner being. Through my recent series of portraits, I have embarked on a voyage of self-discovery, tapping into creative resources that reside deep within my psyche. Through this deliberate shift in perspective, I discovered that the canvas is a
safe space to unravel emotions, experiment with ideas, and engage in an unfiltered dialogue with myself. The act of creation became an act of liberation from the constraints of self-doubt and chains of insecurity.

In embracing the transformative power of art, I have discovered that it is not merely about creating something beautiful for the eyes to behold. It is about forging an intimate connection with the self, acknowledging the raw emotions that lie beneath the surface, and celebrating the beauty of imperfection. The canvas is my sanctuary, a realm where I can rewrite my narrative, heal my wounds, and unleash the boundless creativity that resides within."

Rachel Bensimon, a native of Toronto, embarked on a journey to New York City to pursue her passion for art. She dedicated a decade of her life to honing her skills at The Arts Students League, immersing herself in the vibrant artistic community. In her art, Rachel seeks to offer fresh perspectives on the classic aesthetics of beauty. Her subject matter predominantly revolves around girl children and young women, as she strives to transcend individual portraiture and embrace a more universal perspective. Often accompanied by various animals or set amidst nature, her recent series explores the profound connection we share with the natural world. The result is a collection of portraits that exude an otherworldly or surrealistic aura.
