Staying Grounded, 30" x 60"
Mixed media on Canvas, Framed in Black.
"This abstracted landscape was created using my process of layering paint and texture. I am inspired by the landscape you see while driving and looking through the car window. You see random fields and trees and rocks and sky. If you really look closely, there are so many colours and textures. My landscapes are not a specific spot but give you a feeling of a place you may have been.
I work with acrylics and my love of abstract has evolved into creating and combining abstract and realism. I really love distressed textures, colour and working big! I use a unique method of texturizing my canvas before I start applying the layers of colour which gives an added dimension to the finished piece."
Canadian artist Kareen Hague has painted her entire life and has been exposed to the creative arts as long as she can remember. Her initial love of abstracts evolved into combining abstract with realism. These days, she has a hard time leaving an abstract as it is. The flowers or landscape shout and pull to emerge. Years of family time in cottage country inspires many of Hague's works. A love of the water and sitting by the glistening lake. Birch trees that I see in the forest and by the roadside.
