Jill Sapiente was first introduced to oil painting at an early age. Unknowingly, she shadowed her father who painted signs by day and created masterpieces at night. Her mother also artistic, was a stained glass artist. Jill HAS worked for many years in the Beauty Industry, always following her creative side every chance she had, specializing in Make-up Artistry. Although Jill was involved in the corporate world for many years, she found the time to oil paint for pleasure. Now as her corporate career winds down and her art career re-emerges, Jill has been painting every day for the last three years. Living with her hubby in Niagara, she paints in her home studio which she has named ‘The Blue Room’.
“Colour and movement, the way light bounces off the trees and water. Finding joy in the beauty of my environment has always been a life pleasure. My travels have brought me all over North America and beyond. Perhaps the most captivating for me is the raw beauty of Canada. From British Columbia where I lived for 2 years, across the Prairie Provinces to the Maritimes. I am still in awe of the unspoiled beauty of this natural terrain. And so much variety. From the stony granite coasts and mountainous rocky cliffs in the west, through the wheat fields, past the lure of the Great Lakes to the low tide and the enchanting Cabot Trail in the east. To be able to harness this beauty and translate a 2-dimensional story with paint onto a one-dimensional canvas.”
