"While I was working on this huge painting in my pyjamas, my neighbours and friends
Mathis (7) and Philippe (10) stopped by to see if I'd finally finished. But I wasn't.
A little later in the afternoon, while I was quietly finishing the foliage on my last tree on
the right (still in my pyjamas), Philippe came back to the studio. He approached the
painting and said: "What I find most beautiful is that you can feel the wind passing
through the branches.

This morning when I got up, I came across this wonderful poem:
In the branches, the melody of the wind.
To sing, the tree needs the bird.

Philippe, thanks to you, I've found the title for my painting."

Each painting invites viewers to truly immerse themselves in the forest, so they can better observe, smell, hear and reconnect with it. Through the play of light and by altering the dimensions of a subject, the artist shows how you can interpret a landscape in many different ways. Thus the depiction of say, a smudge of paint, can also be viewed as a particular shape, a splash of light, a piece of textured material – harking back to the spontaneity and distorted imagery that were characteristic of the Impressionist and Expressionist movements.
