"This abstract and impressionist photographic image was created in the autumn colours of Labrador, on Canada’s east coast. Sometimes when I reach a landscape that is so vast, as Labrador is, I resort to the use of Intentional Camera Movement (ICM), deliberately “squinting” my camera eyes in order to receive an impression of the landscape, rather than capture specific, individual elements. Labrador is still one of the few wilderness areas of this country. By removing recognizable elements (by panning the camera), I can preserve the magic of that pristine landscape, while still showcasing the pageantry of its autumn colour."

Lori Ryerson is a Toronto-based contemporary art photographer. In 2016, after 30 years in the workforce, she left the corporate world of Communications to become a full-time artist. She has exhibited in a wide variety of shows, from solo outings to community group shows, to art fairs in Canada and the US. She is an elected member of both the Ontario Society of Artists and the Society of Canadian Artists.

Lori refers to herself as an opportunistic photographer, making the most of wherever she lands. She is especially fond of travel and nature photography, but inspiration can strike anywhere. Most of her compositions take place outside, involving natural structures, water or plant life. Lori is always on the lookout for what she calls “mystery in the mundane”; commonplace objects or locations where she can employ various techniques to create new perspectives and different views. Recently, Lori has been increasing her exploration of abstract interpretations of nature, employing techniques such as intentional camera movement and multiple exposures
