Collection Description
These paintings trace a personal and creative journey through uncertainty, exploration, and eventual return. Clear as Day captures a moment of clarity. Water lilies rise to the surface, bringing a sense of rebirth and reflection. Here, she feels grounded, rooted in the knowledge that she has arrived at a place fertile with creative potential.
"My work explores creativity rediscovered in adulthood and the shift from measuring worth through productivity to embracing rest. Influenced by French and Dutch Impressionist portrayals of leisure, I reimagine these scenes to center women of colour, challenging histories that tie their identities to labor. I aim to create tender, contemplative images that feel like a quiet pause and remind us that rest is both necessary and powerful."
