Hermitage emerges from a long gaze into both the inner and outer landscapes that shape us. Painted in cool, neutral tones and marked by the play between sharp clarity and softened obscurity, the work reflects the contemplative path. Long moments of quiet searching punctuated by sudden insight. In its layered marks, the painting suggests that what we discover within mirrors the terrains we traverse without. Transformation occurs through the slow return to a steady center.

Hermitage speaks to the grounding force of stillness in a world of constant flux. Just as a hermitage offers a physical place of retreat, the work imagines an interior refuge where one can remain rooted and embodied amidst uncertainty. It invites the viewer to linger in the tension between movement and rest, between what is clear and what remains veiled, and to find in that tension a deeper, steadier way of being.

For this exhibition, this work speaks to the reality of being that pulses in places great and small. Even when the world feels fractured by and shadowed, resilience and freshness continue to rise. Nature is Never Spent invites viewers into a contemplative field to feel the inexhaustible force of life, a reminder that transformation is woven into the fabric of creation, and that grounding may be found in the very vitality that refuses to be extinguished.

"Before becoming a full-time artist, I served as a pastor, a path that shaped my way of listening, attending to silence, and seeking the sacred in the ordinary. My painting practice began with a deep recognition in abstract art—works by Rothko, Mitchell, Kline, and Twombly felt like prayer in visual form. Today, I translate silence and presence into gesture, texture, and form, creating works that invite quiet attention and inner reflection. Rooted in both contemplative practice and theatrical training in “Viewpoints,” my process blends mysticism with embodied discovery, offering abstract paintings as spaces of encounter, stillness, and love."
