"Hibiscus is part of my latest painting series, 'The Garden of the Soul,' where flowers express their beauty. In the garden of the soul are all the trees, flowers, and fruits we are called to become, fruits of love, joy, kindness, and peace.
For me, rooted reality is synonymous with having one's head in the sky and one's feet on the ground. All my work consists of bringing heaven down to earth; we need enchantment to root ourselves on earth, to hold on to life, to be in balance between heaven and earth and stay in touch with nature. During my time in Brazil, it was nature that literally helped me to reconnect with my roots. Rooting comes through painting, precision, the discipline of my art, order, harmony and joy, and I can enter into the spiritual heart of my being, be stable and strong."
Catherine Chantilly lives in the Basque Country of France. She graduated from the Fine Arts School of Bourges, and holds a master's degree in literature and civilization from the University of Nice. Her last exhibition, "Couleur Vie," was near Bordeaux at Fort Médoc in the chapel listed as a UNESCO heritage site. Catherine's paintings mainly focused on the tree of life, the fruits of life, and the fruits of the spirit. She works in series, between 7 to 12 paintings, and seeks to show joy, the abundance of life, its gifts.
