To the Moon and Back, 16" x 16"
Acrylic on Canvas.
"The use of colour has long been known to have a significant influence on our emotions and moods. We attribute cheerfulness with yellow, for example, and passion with red. My love of using bold colours is really an expression of the contentment and joy that I experience in front of the easel. Often, I don’t start with a firm plan in mind but a vague swirl of colours and shapes depending on how I am feeling at that particular time. As I keep adding spontaneous layers of paint, something starts to emerge and I can see the way. I envisioned this piece to be a whimsical visit to a wildflower meadow under the moonlight, causing the petals to glow. I invite the viewer to be drawn into this magical scene and that the bright colours will evoke happiness every time you see it!"
Halifax-based acrylic artist Raquel Roth is inspired by bold colours and the beauty of natural elements, especially florals. Raquel is constantly amazed at the range of emotions that art can evoke and she loves sharing the joy she feels when she is painting.
