"Batches is a “sweet” and popular bakery within my neighbourhood in Hamilton, Ontario, that I have always wanted to include in a painting. Oversized flowers in this piece represent the
happiness that arises when a community has warm and friendly encounters at places such as a local bakery.

The title of this painting though, pays homage to my great grandparent’s bakery in Rockwood, Ontario, known as Saunders Bakery. Our family simply referred to it as “The Bake Shop.”

Jodi Kitto-Ward's work is strongly influenced by line, colour and expression. Her style is representational, vibrant and simplified in form, evoking influences of Pop Art and Art Deco. Her artwork can be found in public and private collections within Canada.
