“I’ve had a love affair with horses for as long as I can remember. As a child, I have many fond memories of taking riding lessons and trail riding through the woods. Inspired by a reference picture, this painting is all about capturing the mood and the fading light as the rider heads home after a long ride. A friend commented that she actually ‘felt the moment in this. The clip-clop, the dust, tired horse and rider.’ For an artist, it’s truly gratifying to be able to evoke such emotion and bring a painting to life, so to speak, from a two-dimensional image!"
