“Painting is like meditation for me. My mind turns off, it stops its spinning, and
colour and shapes take their place. I have always been in awe of the beauty
that surrounds us at every corner. I often find myself stopping in mid-step to
admire the graphic nature of the angle of a bridge, a landscape, or a cluster of
objects.
The collection of selected works is landscapes and florals inspired by my home, where I am nurtured and supported by both my family and my environment. It is where I am constantly inspired, where I create my work and where joy is most often found.

I often describe my work like memories, cloudy in nature, without all the sharp edges of reality. Bright colours are often used to demonstrate my enthusiasm for what is before my eyes. Texture and lines accompany colour to create movement, for although I attempt to stop time, time never does. This allows the clouds to almost float across the sky, the trees to rustle in the wind, or the river to flow. I attempt to place my audience in the place where I stood, watching the river flow and the clouds drift across the sky."

Bridget Brummel was born and raised in Ottawa, Ontario. She began teaching herself to paint in her mid-20s while applying for design school. Her focus is on the natural world. Its intense beauty allowed her to focus on the good, amazing things in this world. It allowed serenity and peace of mind. The essence of her work is vibrant colours, moving textures, and respect for the landscapes as they are: perfect moments in time. Her journey and inspiration have travelled through many cities and countries, while finally resting at a homestead in Hamilton, Ontario. Hamilton has been her home since 2012, and she is continually inspired by the arts community and the surrounding natural amenities. She has been successfully exhibiting and selling her work since 2010 in Toronto, Hamilton and beyond.
