"My work explores how memory, emotion, and spatial experience can become points of orientation in moments of uncertainty. Through layered compositions that combine organic forms, geometric structures, and divided surfaces, I reflect on how internal states are continuously shaped and reorganized.

I approach emotions as something that can be sensed and reassembled rather than immediately defined. Using simple shapes and color, I translate each feeling into a visual form that can be arranged, scattered, or carefully balanced. This process creates space to pause, reflect, and understand shifting emotional states. Drawing from overlooked urban corners and in between spaces, I connect inner experiences with external environments that hold both familiarity and ambiguity. Rather than presenting a fixed sense of place, my paintings consider orientation as an ongoing process where emotions, memories, and perceptions are continuously rearranged to find moments of clarity, balance, and quiet grounding."

Che Ree Kwon is a Toronto-based visual artist from South Korea, where she earned her master’s in Fine Art from Hongik University. Grounded in memory and emotion, her painting practice translates fleeting impressions of overlooked urban corners, secluded parks, and quiet, overgrown natural spaces into layered acrylic and mixed media compositions on canvas.

Her work is characterized by bold, simplified natural forms, vivid color, textured surfaces, and a collage-like energy that balances organic and geometric elements. Through these layered compositions, Kwon explores complexity, playfulness, and the emotional resonance of everyday surroundings. She has exhibited her work in galleries locally and internationally, and her work is held in private and institutional collections in Canada, the United States, and South Korea.
