"Atmospheric shifts in color, texture, and form encourage a playful emotional movement across the piece, suggesting multiple, seen and unseen, orientations rather than a single fixed perspective. This dynamic interplay invites viewers to continually reorient themselves, to see and be seen, making the experience of the artwork both immersive and reflective.

I work predominantly in Acrylics and Acrylic inks because of their abilities when added to water or water added to them, their different pigment weights, viscosities, saturations, I find experimentation and combinations are an infinite process for me. I achieve a freshness and a thickness to each of the materials in response to the water but ultimately serve the composition. I couple this with my formal training to keep the game going as long as I feel the muse. My painting can be rather energetic and I am not afraid to obscure a previous gesture, following the advice that ''nothing is precious in painting'' - I try my best not to fall in love with any contrived outcome but let the painting do the talking."

The viewer can contemplate an infinite play of high key color relationships and find something beneath the surface. He captures the essence of uninhibited thought and emotion, allowing his art to transcend his own boundaries.

Nathan Markham is an American Painter and Traveler, living and working in the Alentejo Region of Portugal for 10 years. He has created gallery art for over 25 years, traveling to 36 countries around the world. His diverse body of collected work spans painting, collage, printmaking and ceramic sculpture in 5 countries. In 2007, he was named one of the top Independent Artists in South Florida by the Miami Dept. of Cultural Affairs and has continued to exhibit; supplying collectors in the
USA and abroad with unique art pieces. Nathan holds a Bachelor of Fine Art from the Savannah College of Art and Design and a Master’s in Interdisciplinary Art from Nova Southeastern University.
