Nature is Never Spent takes its title and spirit from Gerard Manley Hopkins’ poem God’s Grandeur, which affirms that despite human strain and destruction, “nature is never spent… there lives the dearest freshness deep down things.” In this painting, fields of luminous reds, pinks, and golds pulse with an almost volcanic vitality, while darker marks arc across the surface like scars, gestures of disruption. Yet, within the tension of shadow and blaze, renewal insists on itself.
"Before becoming a full-time artist, I served as a pastor, a path that shaped my way of listening, attending to silence, and seeking the sacred in the ordinary. My painting practice began with a deep recognition in abstract art—works by Rothko, Mitchell, Kline, and Twombly felt like prayer in visual form. Today, I translate silence and presence into gesture, texture, and form, creating works that invite quiet attention and inner reflection. Rooted in both contemplative practice and theatrical training in “Viewpoints,” my process blends mysticism with embodied discovery, offering abstract paintings as spaces of encounter, stillness, and love."
